Metal Surfaces

Architects, artists and designers choose Zahner for one reason above all other.  They know that if they can dream it, we can do it.  Our engineering and design team immerse themselves in discovering practical solutions for our customers.

Our constant exploration of new ways of treating, finishing, shaping, manipulating and just plain abusing architectural metals yields breathtaking and previously unimagined options for designers.

Listed below are a few of the research and development projects currently underway:

  • Research and development of fusing glass and metal to create unique artistic expressions.
  • Research to develop enhanced oxidized zinc surfaces.
  • Research to develop enhanced oxidized copper alloy surfaces.
  • Research and development of oxidized steel alloys to create pre-weathered surfaces.
  • Redefining methods for using digital definition and CNC programming to develop structural support systems that will create an endless variety and combination of shapes.  Our objective is to make our current systems even more flexible and cost effective.
  • In addition to our current MetaBUMP™, MetaPERF™ and MetaShape™ systems, we are perfecting methods to induce patterns and images onto the metal sheet.  We are currently working on the understanding of the necessary parameters and limitations involved with the custom surfacing on metal.
  • Developing a beadblast system to do beadblast finishes inhouse.
  • Developing a system for inhouse sealing, so you know it is up to Zahner standards.
